Rusty was acquired as an unknown
subspecies, we always suspected that she was not capensis,
partly due to her low
subcaudal scale count.

Due to successful breeding
with a confirmed Cape House Snake,
however, we have assumed for the time being that she
is a Cape until proven otherwise.

She has quite a lot of red colouration and some of
her offspring appear to display this characteristic also
and we
therefore intend to pursue this at some point.
